Usage Tips
This is a reusable mold and you can expect to get 30+ castings out of the mold with minimal degradation in quality when properly cared for.
If using resin, I recommend casting resin for optimal results and to extend the life of your mold. Casting resin generates less heat compared to artist or tabletop resin, which helps maintain the mold’s integrity. Avoid using fast-setting resins, as they produce excessive heat that can damage the mold.
The silicone is heat resistant to 410°F (210°C). Please use a heat gun to pop bubbles. If you use a torch be swift and avoid making contact with the mold as an open flame can damage the silicone and hard shell.
We do not recommend the use of release agents for casting resin. If you are casting a material that typically requires a release agent, ensure it is not silicone based.
Care Instructions
- Cleaning: For best results, use canned air to remove dust and debris. For a deeper clean, wash with mild soap and water or cast a piece to pick up and clean out debris. If you're really in a pinch, for example, you mixed your resin improperly and the casting is sticky you can use isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any residue . Take care not to scratch the mold as any defect will be visible in your casting. This mold is not dishwasher safe.
- Storage: Store molds upside down or cover with plastic wrap to avoid debris accumulation.
Other Useful Details
The mold consists of two parts; a durable silicone insert and a hard plastic shell. The silicone insert is food-safe and oven-safe up to 410°F (210°C). The hard plastic shell is NOT oven-safe. If you want to use this mold to bake, you can crumple up some aluminum foil to create a cradle for the silicone inserts.
